Football, a sport that is played globally and is a sport that is people. The sport as we I know it today was invented back in the 19th Century by the United Kingdom. The only sport that is truly globally played and admired even in the depths of war. A sport that was played even when the greatest of wars were fought back in World War one, where the soldiers met in the no man land and enjoyed a game of soccer during Christmas. All this shows that Soccer as a sport transcends language, borders, countries, continents, and everything. This has given so much credibility to the sport where they can market this game as a world’s language, but not only that they can also state it as a people’s sport.

The language we speak is often depicted as the only mode of speech but “The philosopher Ludwig Von Wittgenstein, who is famous for his analogy with language as a game, an analogy he presumably thought of when passing a field where a football game was in play” Shows how the idea of a sport being used a method of communication is subtly always has been prevalent and is shown through the behavior of the players and action. Regardless of the multiple languages and cultures involved in this sport, all is understood by respect and the method of play. No one is regarded as unable to play Football or different if you see them play, and each culture has the sport with a different playing style which is embraced at a global level. Such as the Brazilian Joga Bonita, which is a famous play style which is learned and embraced by people and someone from halfway across the globe knows about it and wants to learn those skills and play style. This is so much more than just breaking a language barrier; people feel the emotion of this and understand. This shows that language as we know it can take many form and can either unite us or break us into pieces but Football shows us how it can be used a way to foster and build on that connection and show that the world can truly be united and be elevated to a higher stance.

Another idea many people language is just that there has to be something universal about and that everyone has to speak a certain language to preserve culture and identity. But for some reason this just breaks down in front of the idea of Football; it is never about identity, it is about sport and winning the game and showing that we are better than the others. But not even once is the culture, the language, or any of those differentiators mentioned. They always talk about playing it and it is also to the street level sport that even with no awards or big prizes at the end of this deal. They would still play their heart out and prove repeatedly that it is about the game. Because in these street level games there are multiple, if not, a mix of communities that come and highlight their skills. A skill that was played or shown by someone who they do not speak the language of or the culture they do not share.
